Hawai‘i Wraps Regular Season on Senior Night, Heads to Big West Tournament
The University of Hawai‘i baseball team wrapped up the regular season with an 8-1 loss to CSUN on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium, but the Rainbow Warriors still head into postseason play with momentum after securing a spot in the Big West Championship tournament earlier in the week.
Playing in front of a sold-out Senior Night crowd of 4,354, Hawai‘i honored its 17 departing seniors following the game before shifting its attention to next week’s conference tournament in Irvine, California.
CSUN starter Adam Christopher tossed a complete game, holding UH to one run on six hits while striking out 12 batters.
Taylor Takata provided the highlight offensively for the ’Bows, going 3-for-3 with a walk, stolen base and run scored in his final regular-season game at Les Murakami Stadium. Gabe Wright drove in Hawai‘i’s lone run with an RBI single in the fifth inning.
The Rainbow Warriors finished the regular season 27-22 overall and 16-14 in Big West play, earning the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament. Hawai‘i will open postseason play Wednesday at 3 p.m. HT in a single-elimination matchup in Irvine.
