On this date in 2019, the start of the 31st Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic, unranked Hawaii came from behind to upset 21st ranked San Diego. Set scores: 25-19, 20-25, 16-25, 25-19, 15-10. Oregon transfer Jolie Rasmussen led all hitters with 19 kills (including 9 in the final 2 sets) and hit .390, freshman Hanna Hellvig added 13 kills and five blocks, while another Oregon transfer, Brooke Van Sickle recorded the double-double (12 kills, 14 digs). Senior setter Norene Iosia posted her first double-double of the season, 30 assists and 14 digs. The win over the Toreros marked the first season-opening win since 2015 and the first season-opening win for Head Coach Robyn Ah Mow.
