A date so good we had to go with two different years! In 1985, UH had gotten off to a perfect 7-0 start. The Rainbow Wahine welcomed to Honolulu the defending national champions, the UCLA Bruins. Within UH’s perfect start to the season, the Rainbow Wahine had lost just one set. The Bows would go on to sweep UCLA (15-13, 15-9, 15-8), but the night would belong to Suzanne Eagye who set two records in the win. Eaqye would set the pre-rally scoring single-match records for block assists in a 3-set match (11) and total blocks in a 3-set match (13).
In 1987, night two of a two-match series versus Long Beach State, the Bows were 8-0 and again, had lost just one set on the young season. In a 3-set win over the 49ers (15-9, 15-12, 15-8), UH would go on to set two team pre-rally scoring single match records. UH recorded 69 team assists and 82 kills in the victory.
