University of Hawaii men’s basketball assistant coach Chris Gerlufsen recently joined Bobby Curran to discuss the team’s latest recruits.
Gerlufsen expressed his excitement for new players like Kamaka Hepa. Gerlufsen said Hepa was a pretty big get for the team. He thinks Hepa wasn’t getting the playing time he deserved at his previous school, the University of Texas.
“Around the island, everyones really excited about Kamaka. Texas may not have been a good fit for Kamaka from a playing style standpoint. To me, he has the size to play both the 4 and the 5 positions. He’s going to be really fun to work with offensively.”
Gerlufsen thinks that having Hepa, who can play both the 4 and the 5 positions, really adds to the matchup coverage for the entire team.
“Depending on the matchup, its really great to have that big kind of guy you can move around and kinda play with.”
