The defending NCAA national champions University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team returned action this week with a pair of home matches against Loyola-Chicago. The season opener on Wednesday, January 5 featured a special presentation of the 2021 championship banner, which was revealed with the help of 2x All-American and Maui’s own Colton Cowell. The Bows displayed an outstanding performance in front of the new banner and home crowd, sweeping the Ramblers, 3-0.
After one day of rest, the ‘Bows returned to the court on Friday for the rematch. The Bows took a similar 2-0 set lead but came up short in the third set. But after regrouping themselves, Hawaii came back strong to win the fourth set comfortably with an 11-point margin, 25-14.
The Bows will return to action against Edward Waters University next week Friday, Jan. 14 at 7 pm in the Simplifi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
