The best of the best high school football talent from around the nation came to Oahu to celebrate culture and play the game they love. The sold-out Polynesian Bowl at Kamehameha School’s Kapalama Campus featured 25 athletes from Hawaii and some of the top-ranked players in the nation.
The athletes had about a week to practice with one another, under head coaches Doug Williams (Team Makai) and June Jones (Team Mauka). They also got to enjoy activities during the week including time at Waikiki Beach, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and a Hall of Fame Celebration Dinner.
After all the festivities, the boys faced off in an exhibition game where team Makai won, 17-3. Makai’s Travis Hunter, the No.1 ranked player in the nation, and Jaishawn Barham were named the Offensive and Defensive MVPs of the game.
