University of Hawaii football assistant coach Abe Elimimian joined the HFN Podcast to chat with Jordan Helle and Hunter Hughes about the recent UH Pro Day at UNLV and the fast-approaching start of spring practice on March 22, 2022. Elimimian is entering his eighth season at UH, and Timmy Chang is his fifth head coach.
Also, please note that the Colt Brennan Celebration of Life is taking place this Sunday, March 20, 2022 (8:00 a.m.) at Waikiki Beach near Duke’s. The public is invited to attend.
University of Hawaii Pro Day at UNLV
This past week, the University of Hawaii was represented by 14 individuals at the Pro Day hosted at UNLV. Elimimian helped to coordinate and facilitate this opportunity for a number of UH graduates, including Calvin Turner, Cortez Davis and Jared Smart. Elimimian said the UH players displayed their passion and dynamic skillset, and the scouts were impressed. About half of the NFL teams were represented at this event.
Spring Football
As the Rainbow Warriors prepare for the start of spring practice, Elimimian said the players are riding an upwards trajectory because of the new spirit and energy that Chang has brought to the program. “His passion is a breath of fresh air for the players,” he said.
The guys on the team are fired up for spring practice. The ability to welcome the public to practices will add an additional push for the guys to continue to strive for more. At the end of the day, the practices are going to be fun to attend because there are jobs available and the players are hungry for that starting position. Elimimian said he’s evaluating his group of cornerbacks based on their success in spring and summer practices, and also academically.
