The OIA Open regular season came to a close Friday Night for both Kapolei and Leilehua. The Kapolei Hurricanes got on the board first with a 23-yard field goal by Hurley Kennedy. The Mules then responded with a statement drive capped off by a Timothy Arnold 10-yard touchdown from Dustin Chow. From then on it was all about junior quarterback Tuli Tagovailoa-Amosa. Tagovailoa-Amosa went on to account for three unanswered touchdowns at the half, with the biggest one coming on a Tryton Keliikipi 47-yard house call.
Kapolei led by 10 at the break, and the Hurricanes never took their foot off the gas. Tagovailoa-Amosa opened up the third quarter with a 74-yard bomb to Malachi Tapaoan to put the game on ice. The Hurricanes star gunslinger accounted for three touchdowns through the air and two with his legs. Leilehua played a sloppy game from start to finish, accounting for 17 penalties for 186 yards. The Hurricanes finished the regular season 6-3 while the Mules failed to record a victory finishing with a record of 0-7-1.
