Kahuku defeated Saint Louis 52-17 on Saturday night led by junior Kaimana Carvalho who recorded 5 interceptions on defense and scoring touchdowns on both offense and defense.
On the first drive of the game, Carvalho returned an interception 58 yards for a touchdown to give Kahuku an early 7-0 lead. He went on to get 4 more interceptions throughout the game. Offensively, Carvalho caught a touchdown pass at the end of the first half to give Kahuku a 35-17 lead.
Kahuku quarterback Tagovailoa-Amosa threw 3 TD passes and running back Fonoti rushed for 2 TDs to lead the Kahuku offense. Saint Louis briefly cut into Kahuku’s lead in the 2nd quarter behind some big pass plays, but Kahuku dominated the rest of the game, outgaining Saint Louis 435 to 286 yards. The win extended Kahuku’s winning streak over Hawaii opponents to 24 games.
In summary, Kahuku’s defense, led by Carvalho’s 5 interceptions, stifled Saint Louis. And the Kahuku offense had too much firepower behind Tagovailoa-Amosa, Fonoti, and Carvalho’s TD catches. Kahuku cruised to a convincing 52-17 win over their highly ranked opponent.
