University of Hawai’i senior middle blocker Amber Igiede has earned AVCA third-team All-America honors for the second consecutive season, marking her as one of only 18 Rainbow Wahine athletes to achieve multiple AVCA All-American awards. Following her recognition as The Big West Championship’s Most Valuable Player, Igiede played a pivotal role in leading Hawai’i to their fourth consecutive conference title and the program’s 30th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. The 2023 AVCA All-America Banquet on Dec. 15 will honor Igiede as part of the 42-player class, where she stands out as one of only three players representing a non-Power 5 conference. Her outstanding 2023 season statistics include leading The Big West in kills, blocks, and service aces. Igiede’s remarkable career includes being the third UH player to earn All-Big West First Team honors in all four seasons and achieving over 1,000 kills and 500 blocks. In NCAA career active record rankings, she finishes as the No. 3 middle with 1,371 career kills and ties for 11th with 528 career blocks. Igiede is the 17th UH player to earn at least two All-American awards, solidifying her place in Rainbow Wahine history.
