On Wednesday, Gatorade revealed the recipients of their annual State Players of the Year, and Mililani High School quarterback Kini McMillan was announced as Hawaii’s representative. Now in its 39th year, the award acknowledges outstanding high school athletes nationally for their achievements both on and off the field.
During the 2023 season, the junior quarterback, McMillan, had an impressive performance, amassing 3,521 yards and 42 touchdowns with a 68.1% passing rate. His contributions played a pivotal role in guiding the Trojans to an OIA championship and securing a runner-up position in the HHSAA Open State football Championship.
In addition to his on-field accomplishments, McMillan actively volunteers as a youth football coach, referee, and mentor for aspiring quarterbacks. This commitment to community service further highlights his dedication beyond the game.
McMillan now joins a prestigious roster of former Trojans who have previously received this distinguished honor, including Dillon Gabriel, Vavae Malepeai, and McKenzie Milton.
