Brayden Schager, quarterback for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, is one of 80 athletes named to the 88th Maxwell Award watch list, which honors the top player in college football annually.
Last season, Schager led the Mountain West in passing yards (3,542), touchdown passes (26), and points responsible for (168). He also ranked second in total offense with 277.3 yards per game and completed 63.2% of his passes, earning honorable mention all-Mountain West.
Schager is one of only six Mountain West players on the list. Semifinalists will be announced on November 12, finalists on November 26, and the winner on December 12. The Maxwell Award has been presented since 1937, named after Robert “Tiny” Maxwell, a former standout at Swarthmore College.
