Hawaii Baptist Academy (HBA) captured the Division II state volleyball title with a commanding 25-20, 25-20, 25-16 victory over Le Jardin, marking the program’s first state championship since 2015. Senior Marisa Nakata led the Eagles with a match-high 17 kills and 10 digs, solidifying her as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
This victory secured HBA’s fifth state title under coach Myles Shioji, whose senior-led squad relied on strong serving to disrupt Le Jardin’s offense. Key contributions from Brooke Brennan and Kylie Ancheta bolstered HBA’s attack, adding essential depth to Nakata’s performance.
Despite early leads, Le Jardin (11-5) struggled with serve-receive, yielding seven aces and finishing with a .079 hitting percentage. Sydney Kennedy led Le Jardin with 15 kills, though the team’s limited offensive rhythm underscored HBA’s defensive impact.
