Former Kahuku WR Kainoa Carvalho flips commitment from Utah to Hawai’i

The University of Hawai’i football team added a 14th member to its 2025 early signing class on Friday, welcoming former Kahuku standout wide receiver Kainoa Carvalho.

A 2023 graduate of Kahuku, Carvalho recently returned from a two-year church mission in Japan, following a stellar high school career.

As a senior, he was ranked No. 8 overall in Hawaii’s 2023 recruiting class by 247Sports and was recognized as the state’s No. 2 wide receiver.

Carvalho earned Hawaii State Player of the year during his junior season, where he tallied 79 receptions, 1,179 receiving yards, and 17 total touchdowns.

His contributions were instrumental in Kahuku securing state championships in both 2021 and 2022.
