After two straight runner-up finishes, Hanalani finally broke through, defeating ILH rival Hawaii Baptist 62-33 to win its second state championship since 2022.
Ellana Klemp delivered a commanding performance in her final game, scoring 33 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Piha Akiona added 13 points, six rebounds, and two blocks before fouling out late in regulation.
The Royals started slow but gained momentum late in the first quarter, sparked by Klemp’s and-one play. A relentless full-court press fueled an 11-0 run in the second quarter, giving Hanalani full control with a 29-15 halftime lead.
Hanalani dominated the boards, outrebounding Hawaii Baptist 40-19, including 14 offensive rebounds. The Eagles struggled offensively, shooting just over 25% from the field and hitting only 2 of 16 from beyond the arc.
