HONOLULU, HI – April 9, 2025 – Twelve-year-old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu standout Sage Cruz will compete this weekend at the prestigious Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Open in Oklahoma City, continuing his rise as one of the top young grapplers in the world. Sage trains under Professor Jason Vigil at Island Jiu Jitsu in Honolulu, Hawaii.
A 3-time IBJJF Pan Kids Champion, Sage has already captured gold this year at ADCC Opens in San Jose and San Diego, and currently holds the #8 overall ADCC youth ranking, across all ages and belt levels. Known for his high-level technique and relentless drive, Sage enters the Oklahoma event with serious momentum and high expectations.
Sage will be joined in Oklahoma by his younger brother, Levi “Luck” Cruz, a top youth competitor in both Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, as well as six of his Island Jiu Jitsu teammates: Maks, Malia, Maddie, Zachai, Zay, and Koa—all part of the new generation of Hawaiian talent making waves on the national scene.

“This group represents the heart of our youth program,” said Professor Jason Vigil. “Sage and the rest of the team have been training hard and we’re excited to show the level of talent coming out of Island Jiu Jitsu.”
