Kamehameha claimed the first-ever ILH girls flag football title with a 19-0 shutout victory over Punahou at Alexander Field. After a three-way tie in the standings, Kamehameha earned a bye through a random draw while Punahou defeated Iolani in a semifinal.
Quarterback Hayden Kaahanui-Cera led the Warriors with 252 passing yards and two touchdowns. The win marked Kamehameha’s fourth shutout of the season and avenged an earlier loss to Punahou.
Despite limited experience on the roster, Kamehameha improved throughout the season, especially on defense. Punahou will face Iolani for the league’s second berth in the upcoming HHSAA state tournament.
