Mililani Football Head Coach Rod York experienced his fair share of short-comings in his personal football career but took those experiences and turned them into lessons for his players today. Helping the Trojan football team to become better athletes on the field and better people off the field is why he is a difference maker for Mililani High School.
Coach York is an ʻIolani graduate and was an all-state honoree. After graduating high school, he walked onto the University of Hawaiʻi football team climbed the ladder from an 8th string walk-on a two year starter.
Transitioning from playing to coaching, Coach York dedicated himself to helping his players get better and become great young men. His genuine care for his student-athletes has been described by his peers, coaches, and community as “father-like.”
Coach York is a special education teacher at Mililani and also teaches drivers education on the side. He is proud that he gets to teach those with special needs and make an impact on their lives.
