The #1 seeded Saint Louis Crusaders avoided an upset against Kailua last night in the HHSAA DI boys basketball quarterfinal round. With a tight battle in the first quarter, Saint Louis pulled away in the second – limiting Kailua to just three points. The Surfriders came back strong in the third, outscoring the Crusaders 17-11, making it a close battle till the end. Saint Louis prevailed clinching a spot in the semifinal round against Moanalua tonight at 7pm at Moanalua.
Pupu Sepulona scored 20 points for the Crusaders and Jonny Philbrick put up 19 for the Surfriders.
