Kamehameha and Maryknoll, two teams looking to take the second ILH spot in the 2023 HHSAA Softball State Tournament met at Kamehameha for a long and exciting battle. There were a total of 37 runs on 30 combined hits in the game. Just as it looked like one team would run away with the game, the other team fought right back to close the gap or reclaim the lead.
Coming up big for Kamehameha was their second baseman, Nevaeh Telles who had her best of the season at the plate. She went 5-for-5 with four homeruns and 8 RBIs.
“Overall, I did my best to keep my head clear and keep each at bat simple. I trusted in my abilities and my teammates as well because I know if I couldn’t get the job done, the girl next to me can. Right now we are just focusing on playing together and for each other to keep pushing forward,” said Telles.
Kamehameha steps into the drivers seat in the ILH Tournament and is one win away from advancing to the state tournament. Maryknoll will play the winner of Iolani vs Punahou.
