In a recent OIA matchup, the No. 1 ranked Kahuku football team continued their winning streak by defeating No. 14 Farrington with a score of 48-20 at Edward ‘Skippa’ Diaz Stadium. Kahuku’s Red Raiders, who now boast a 4-0 overall record, showcased their dominance, accumulating 344 total yards of offense. This victory marked their 26th consecutive win against Hawaii opponents, while it handed Farrington their first loss of the season, putting their record at 2-1 overall (1-0 OIA).
Key contributors for Kahuku included Vaaimalae Fonoti, who rushed for 167 yards on 12 carries and scored two touchdowns while also catching another. Quarterback Tulilele Tagovailoa-Amosa threw for 66 yards, completing 4 of 7 passes, and scored a touchdown on a 37-yard keeper. Kaimana Carvalho’s 83-yard punt return and his sixth interception of the season, returned for 65 yards, further solidified Kahuku’s dominance.
The Red Raiders are now gearing up to face California powerhouses in their next two games, taking on Mater Dei and St. John Bosco in the coming weeks. Farrington, on the other hand, will face Moanalua in their upcoming game.
