The Roosevelt Rough Riders staged an impressive comeback, overcoming a 14-3 deficit to defeat Kaimuki 34-22 for the OIA Division II championship. This victory marked their second league title in school history, the first since 2018. Quarterback Ioane Kamanao played a pivotal role, showing resilience after taking hard hits. He completed 12 of 20 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns. Kamanao’s connection with Jahsiah Souza-Armstead was key, as Souza-Armstead recorded five receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns. The defense also played a crucial role, with Ezekiel Soon forcing a fumble that led to a touchdown. Roosevelt will advance to the state football championships, facing Kamehameha-Hawaii in the first round. Kaimuki’s Iosefa Letuli put up a strong performance, accounting for three touchdowns.
