In a thrilling ILH playoffs kickoff, Maryknoll’s team stunned Punahou with a late victory over Punahou in an intense 11-inning showdown. It seemed Punahou was poised for victory until Maryknoll’s Sheyzhelle Iokia went up to bat. Down 0-1 runs with 2 outs, 2 strikes, and at the bottom of the 7th inning. Iokia delivered a clutch solo home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie the game at 1-1 to force extra innings. As extra innings ensued, both teams displayed solid defensive performances, keeping the game deadlocked. However, in the bottom of the 11th inning, Reyni Hiraoka’s solo RBI hit brought Briana Sarae home, sealing the 2-1 win for Maryknoll stunningly.
