Kamehameha handed ‘Iolani its first league loss in a thrilling five-set match, 22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 21-25, 15-13, extending the ILH Division I season by at least one more game. The Warriors, who need two more wins against the Raiders to claim the ILH D1 title and secure a seeded berth in the HHSAA tournament, were led by standout performances from Kalaweloilehua Chock (24 kills, 18 digs) and Kamanao Goldestein (18 kills, 17 digs).

Despite Iolani’s superior blocking, with Taimane Ainuu and Poema Kalama-Kingma combining for 34 kills and the team recording 21 blocks, Kamehameha’s aggressive play and 10 service aces were crucial in the win.

The teams will clash again at Iolani on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. If Kamehameha wins, a winner-takes-all match for the ILH Division I championship will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 21, with the time yet to be determined.
