The Castle girls’ volleyball team captured their first league title in 35 years with a four-set victory over Farrington in the OIA Division II championship. Senior leaders Trystin Lum and Emily Robins drove Castle’s offense, combining for 36 kills, while first-year head coach George Ehia’s emphasis on conditioning, tough serving, and in-system play proved key in the team’s success.
Castle took control with a strong opening set and dominated the third with a 15-0 run. Kapu’s assists and serves were pivotal, while defensive standout Rylie Matsuda’s 21 digs kept the team composed. Overcoming a tough end to the regular season and fueled by a dedicated senior class, Castle fulfilled its goal of a league championship. Both Castle and Farrington will represent the OIA in the Division II State Championships.
