October 24, 2008 – One of the most storied programs of the sport achieved a major milestone on this night. Ninth ranked Hawai`i hosted WAC foe San Jose State. On that Aloha Friday evening and in front of 6,188 fans, Jamie Houston led the way with the double-double (18 kills, 12 digs). Fellow pin hitter Kanani Danielson added 12 kills and eight digs. Setter Dani Mafua had 45 assists and 12 digs to notch the double-double. In just two sets played, middle blocker Nickie Thomas scored five kills on just seven swings. UH went up 2-0 on the Spartans, 25-12, 25-22. Set 3 was close as well with ties at: 18, 22, 23 and 24. A SJSU service error followed by a Kanani Danielson gave UH the 26-24 set victory and another 3-0 sweep. This win for UH not only improved their records to 16-3 overall and 9-1 in WAC play, but it was also the 1,000th win in program history.
