Hawai‘i Stuns CSUN with 10-Run Ninth-Inning Rally to Clinch Series

Down six runs entering the ninth, Hawai‘i baseball pulled off a stunning comeback, scoring 10 runs in the final frame to secure a 14-10 victory and a series win at CSUN on Sunday.

Kamana Nahaku had a historic weekend, belting three home runs in the game to tie a UH single-game record—becoming just the sixth player in program history to do so and the first since 2009. His five homers and 11 RBIs over the weekend powered UH to a team-record six home runs in a single game.

Trailing 10-4 in the ninth, the ‘Bows sent 13 batters to the plate, exploding for seven hits. Draven Nushida launched a grand slam to cut the deficit to two, and Shunsuke Sakaino tied the game with a two-run blast against his former team. Matthew Miura’s RBI double gave UH the lead before Jared Quandt’s single and Nahaku’s third homer sealed the win. Pitcher Isaiah Magdaleno closed out the game with a perfect ninth to complete the comeback.

Hawai‘i also notched its 20th win of the season—the program’s fastest to 20 victories since 1992. The ‘Bows return home to face Hawai‘i Pacific on Tuesday at Les Murakami Stadium, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
